A high resolution nonstandard FDTD method for the TM mode of Maxwell's equations
نویسندگان
چکیده
In this work, a high resolution nonstandard finite-difference time-domain method for the transverse magnetic (TM) mode of 2D-Maxwell’s equations is derived. Stability and convergence analysis and numerical studies are presented for the proposed method. The accuracy of this numerical scheme is validated by simulating a light scattering cross-section by a perfectly-conducting circular cylinder. © 2010 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

Finite-Difference Time-Domain Simulation of Light Propagation in 2D Periodic and Quasi-Periodic Photonic Structures
Ultra-short pulse is a promising technology for achieving ultra-high data rate transmission which is required to follow the increased demand of data transport over an optical communication system. Therefore, the propagation of such type of pulses and the effects that it may suffer during its transmission through an optical waveguide has received a great deal of attention in the recent years. We...
متن کاملA High Order Approximation of the Two Dimensional Acoustic Wave Equation with Discontinuous Coefficients
This paper concerns with the modeling and construction of a fifth order method for two dimensional acoustic wave equation in heterogenous media. The method is based on a standard discretization of the problem on smooth regions and a nonstandard method for nonsmooth regions. The construction of the nonstandard method is based on the special treatment of the interface using suitable jump conditio...
متن کاملNumerical Modeling of Sub-Wavelength Anti-Reflective Structures for Solar Module Applications
This paper reviews the current progress in mathematical modeling of anti-reflective subwavelength structures. Methods covered include effective medium theory (EMT), finite-difference time-domain (FDTD), transfer matrix method (TMM), the Fourier modal method (FMM)/rigorous coupled-wave analysis (RCWA) and the finite element method (FEM). Time-based solutions to Maxwell's equations, such as FDTD,...
متن کاملAdaptive Numerical Modeling of RF Structures Requiring the Coupling of Maxwell's, Mechanical, and Solid-State Equations
The FDTD and the Haar-based MRTD algorithms are applied to the full-wave modeling of high-frequency structures that require the combination of differential equations with time-constants of different orders. The numerical coupling of Maxwell's and mechanical equations for the simulation of a MEMS capacitor and of Maxwell's and solid-state equations for a pn diode is discussed in detail.
متن کاملA new approach to the solution of Maxwell's equations for low frequency and high-resolution biomedical problems
High spatial resolution studies of the interaction of the human body with electromagnetic waves of low frequency presents a difficult computational problem. As these studies typically require at least 104 points per wavelength, a huge number of time steps would be needed to be able to use the finite difference time domain method (fdtd). In this paper, a new technique is described, which allows ...
